Music Then and Now . . .





Music is the art of sound. It has a rhythm, a taste, a feeling, happiness, melody, sadness, love, nature. Music is something that you can feel deeply. That’s the reason for why people love music so much. People enjoy music by listening, singing, playing an instrument or by composing a song.



In the history ancient people mainly used Music for religious events. The music was regarded as a precious gift of the gods, magical source of joy and serenity. The Chinese built many types of instruments: timpani, drums, bells, flutes, and lutes. The Indians cultivated the music since ancient times. They had a religious and secular music designed to enliven banquets to accompany the dances or plays. Among the various Indian instruments (tam-tams, flutes, oboes, and trumpets) are typical vina, ravanastra, the sarangi, sitar, stringed instruments that can be considered the ancestors of the violin.

In the middle age of Music history (450-1420) folk music was played by people who was working and wanted to enjoy live with singing and dancing. In 1400-1550 musicians wrote songs and the Music world began to grow. In the period of 1750-1825 classical music was becoming popular. With the popularity of classical music romantic music was improving with the piano. 


With new instruments, new music was composed and the music worlds become more and more wide. Rock and roll music, Jazz music, Hip Hop, Rap Music and Pop music is some of the modern types of music used in the future. Music has a huge industry in today's world which is growing faster.
